PATIENTS SUFFERING ACUTE PAIN
PATIENTS EXPERIENCING CHRONIC PAIN
WILL FALL INTO OPIOD ADDICTION
Around 230 million surgeries are conducted globally every year with USA and Switzerland having one of the highest prevalence numbers of orthopaedic surgeries per 100’000 habitants. Over 65% of these patients experience acute pain caused by surgical trauma and inflammation. Current postoperative care is based on a combination of intravenous, oral, and local administration of drugs. This offers only a short-time relief and a limited control on the dosage of the drug locally. Therefore, higher dosages and repeated interventions are needed, resulting in side effects and complications (e.g., toxicity, prolonged hospitalization, chronic pain, and opioids addiction).
Thanks to InkVivo’s technology, medicaments can be released from our implantable and resorbable patch directly at the affected area. The localized and controlled dosage maximised the therapeutic outcome with reduced risk of side effects. Overall, the patient will experience a faster recovery and an improved quality of life.
